Jim Lancy
Emergency Manager

Jim Lancy became an alternate on the Adams and Jefferson County Hazardous Response Authority after being hired as the Emergency Management Coordinator for the City of Arvada in May of 2002. With the leaving from the board of Arvada Deputy Police Chief Bill Scott, Jim was appointed to fill this position on the authority board in March of 2003.

Mr. Lancy brings to the board his experiences as a fire officer having retired from the Aurora Colorado Fire Department in May of 2002. Jim served his last five years with the fire department as the Emergency Management Coordinator for the City of Aurora. Jim has extensive education and experience in responder psychology and critical incident stress management. Jim served for twelve years as a volunteer peer and clinician on the Mayflower Critical Incident Debriefing Team based out of the Swedish Medical Center. Prior to joining the Aurora Fire

Department in 1984, Jim served six years in the US Army as a Combat Medic and a Neuropsychiatric Specialist.

Jim is a third generation Coloradoan, growing up in East Denver and graduating from George Washington High School. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Colorado and a Master of Arts degree from the University of Northern Colorado. Jim currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Aurora Community Mental Health Center and is active on various committees in the Denver metro emergency management community.
